Shyra was named Offensive MVP after leading the Buffs in goals and shots on goal and ranking second in points. This builds on a stellar freshman campaign where she was named to the 2020 Pac-12 All-Freshman Team. In her first year on the pitch, she lead the Buffs in points, goals and shots on goal with her five goals tied for eighth-most by a freshman. James played club for San Diego Surf and has been the team’s leading scoring the past two seasons. She was a DA National championship finalist in 2019 and won the ECNL National Championship in 2018. As a senior in high school, James was ranked the 16th best forward and the 54th best player by Top Drawer Soccer. As a freshman in high school, she scored 52 goals in 16 varsity games, breaking school records for goals and assists. First in her family to complete high school and attend a four-year university. Would like to become a physical therapist or athletic trainer and play professionally.
